About the book
Converted into an indisputable symbol of the 20th century, Pablo Ruiz Picasso set the course of contemporary art with his revolutionary plastic contributions. Parallel to his frantic creative activity, Picasso had a personal life as convulsive as it was fascinating.
Born in 1881 into a middle-class family in the Andalusian city of Malaga, Pablo Picasso immersed himself in his student days in Barcelona's bohemian scene, where he made the acquaintance of some of his best friends.
Intent on carving his own way, he travelled to Paris, a city that would leave an indelible mark on his life, and where he would suffer poverty and loneliness, but would also fall in love. There he established contact with the most important artists of the time that would help him boost his career.
After consolidating himself artistically, Picasso changed his way of life, forming a family and mixing with the most prominent figures of high society. However, his life was marked by his constant falling in and out of love and especially by the Spanish Civil War, the bombing of the city of Guernica and World War II.
In his final years he was already living like a celebrity and continued creating until the very last day of his life.
